Flashcards is a free flashcard site run by the operator of Flashcards. This page says what the site stores about you, why, and how to have it deleted. Questions: (contact address not set yet).
Without an account
You can search, open public decks and study them without an account. Nothing about that is stored on our servers. Cards you bring over from Cram wait in your browser tab until you save them to an account; close the tab and they are gone.
With an account
- Your account: your e-mail address, the name you choose (optional) and your time zone. Your password is stored only as a scrypt hash, which can’t be turned back into the password.
- What you make: your decks, cards, pictures, folders and favorites.
- How you study: each answer (right or wrong, your 1–5★ rating, when), so the site can show your statistics and plan your reviews.
- One cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days. It can’t be read by scripts and is deleted when you sign out.
New decks you make or import are public, unless you set them to private (only you) or unlisted (anyone with the link) when you create them or at any time later in the deck’s settings. A public deck can be found and studied by anyone, with the name you chose shown as its author. Copies you make of other people’s decks start private. Your e-mail address is never shown to anyone.
What we don’t do
No advertising or analytics cookies, no tracking across other sites, and your data is never sold. If that changes (for example if the site shows ads one day), this page will say so first, and you’ll be asked for permission where the law requires it.
Who helps run the site
The website runs on Vercel and the database on Neon. They store and process the data above for us, on servers that may be in another country than yours (such as the United States), and their logs include IP addresses for security. They don’t use it for anything else.
Deleting your data
Write to (contact address not set yet) from the e-mail address of your account and we delete the account, your decks, pictures and study history within 30 days. Copies other people made of your public decks belong to them and stay. You can also ask what we store about you or have it corrected.
Children
You need to be at least 13 to create an account. Younger students can use the site with a parent or teacher who sets it up and looks after it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Big changes are announced on the site before they apply. See also the Terms.
