Terms of sharing
Last updated 2026-10-28
On Flashcards, people share decks so others can study them. These terms say what sharing a deck means, what others may do with it, and what you promise when you share. They are part of the Terms of use. Questions: (contact address not set yet).
Public, unlisted, private
- Public: anyone can find the deck under Public Decks and in search engines, and study it, even without an account. New decks you make, import or bring from Cram start public.
- Unlisted: it doesn’t show up in searches, but anyone with the link can open and study it.
- Private: only you can see it. Copies you make of other people’s decks start private.
You choose when you create a deck, and can change it at any time in the deck’s settings.
What others may do with a deck you share
While a deck is public or unlisted, you allow everyone using Flashcards to:
- view and study it, and see your chosen name as its author (never your e-mail address);
- ★ favorite it, so it appears in their My Decks;
- make their own copy on this site and change it, split it or merge it with other decks, to learn and to teach (for example a teacher adapting a deck for a class). A copy shows which deck it was made from.
Copies belong to the person who made them and stay if you later make your deck private or delete it; favorites of it disappear. Anything beyond this, such as selling your deck or publishing it somewhere else, needs your own permission.
What you promise when you share
- The cards and pictures are your own work, or you have permission to share them. Short vocabulary lists and your own notes are fine; whole textbooks, answer keys, test banks or pictures from other sites usually are not.
- Nothing illegal, hateful, sexual, violent or misleading, and no spam or advertising.
- No personal information about other people, such as students’ names, photos or contact details. Keep class decks about the subject, not about the class.
- No questions from exams that are still in use, and nothing meant to help people cheat.
Using decks other people made
Study, favorite and copy freely on this site. If you share a copy you changed, the link to the original stays on it; please keep it fair and don’t present someone else’s work as only your own.
Reporting a deck
If a deck breaks these terms or uses your work without permission, write to (contact address not set yet) with a link to it and what is wrong. We may make a deck private, remove it, or close an account that keeps breaking these terms, and we tell the owner why where we can.
